Want to hear how this painting came to life?
I have to say, the process of creating this piece was one of the most fascinating experiences I’ve ever had, and I’m not shy to share just how much I enjoyed painting it—I truly felt a kind of inspiration and illumination. And I’m not exaggerating…
Back in 2007, a lovely woman named Ruti reached out to me. This was before I even had the Sharon’s Art website—when word of mouth was still my main way of getting clients, and it worked wonderfully 😄. She requested a painting for her living room.
She sent me a photo of flowers in a field and asked me to create a painting similar to it. Wow, if you could see the photo compared to the painting—you wouldn’t believe it! (Unfortunately, I don’t have the photo anymore.)
The photo’s colors were mostly green tones, with delicate pink flower clusters and fluff that seemed to drift in the wind. Ruti told me that the sofas in her living room were a dark turquoise shade, so she thought the photo’s colors would fit the room’s atmosphere. We agreed on the painting’s size, horizontal orientation, and price—and I got started.
When I began sketching and painting with colors similar to the photo, something didn’t feel right. I kept looking back at the photo, and what really caught my eye wasn’t just the type or color of the flowers or the background—but the wind motif in the photo. The flowers and branches seemed to be in motion, as if the breeze blowing through the field was bending them sideways and breathing life into them.
So, I took my easel, canvas, and all my art supplies out to my garden (yes, quite a bit of hauling 🤓) and started painting with a completely different color palette from the photo. In fact, I used the colors that my intuition and imagination guided me to.
I’m sharing this because I truly felt a spiritual lift from the wind—and even a kind of revelation: I painted continuously for hours, simply couldn’t stop, and enjoyed every moment! I finished the painting within two days.
Oh, and one important detail—I always do this when I have an idea that’s a bit different from what the client originally requested: I update the client and ask for their permission about changing colors, adding my own ideas, and allowing room for the artist’s imagination (that’s me 😍).
So, before I started painting with the intuition, imagination, and colors that came to mind, I asked Ruti for her approval. I described roughly what I planned, and she gave me the green light 🎨.
The result greatly pleased her! I believe I captured the way the flowers lean in the wind. It made me so happy that Ruti loved the painting, the colors, and the lively energy in it—and that, according to her, it suited her living room perfectly.
She even wrote me a wonderful review that I’ve kept—and today, I have the honor of sharing it on my website.
So, Ruti—thank you so much 🙏💜
