Inspiration from a Photograph
This painting was inspired by a photograph of a serene landscape, where houses with red roofs stood nestled among lush green fields and golden wheat. The contrast of colors and textures immediately caught my attention, sparking the desire to reinterpret the scene through my own creative lens.
A Creative, Abstract Approach
Using acrylic paints and charcoal sketching, I transformed the realistic image into a more abstract composition. Instead of replicating every detail, I focused on the colors of the fields, the bright blue sky, and, of course, the striking red rooftops that gave the scene its character.
The Role of Charcoal in the Composition
I often find that introducing an additional medium creates extra depth and intrigue. In this case, the black charcoal lines add a sense of freehand drawing that contrasts with the bold acrylic brushstrokes. These dark lines guide the viewer’s eye across the canvas, weaving between patches of vivid color and giving the piece a dynamic, layered feel.
